Tweet that!

February 23, 2013

I am about to talk about Twitter but before I do, I must confess that I do not have a Twitter account.  I realize that my confession may be conjuring images of a Neanderthal or other primitive, knuckle dragging, Darwinian like creature right now.  Consequently, if you need to know what I ate for breakfast, or how my workout went or how awesome my sandwich tasted, you’ll just have to come over and see and hope I explain it to you in 140 characters or less.  I generally don’t talk that succinctly unless I am disciplining my children (less is more).

HOWEVER, if there’s one reason I may consider (operative word here:  may) opening a Twitter account, it is because of Jer Throp, NY Times data artist.  See his amazing 5+ minute TED Talk on what he’s done to visualize the world’s tweets.  Simply amazing.

It’s why we spend an inordinate amount of time at Matchbook Learning trying to visualize student achievement data as learning occurs.

PS – Crepes for breakfast this morning and yes, they were amazing.
